Voice of the Men’s Club
By Eugene Rosenberg, President

It is with great sadness that I write this month’s article.
Mark Treager was a friend to us all. Even if you weren’t
aware of it, Mark had an impact in your lives. He gave
and did as few others do. He even did things no one else
would. It was all that and more that made Mark such a
special person.

Mark performed so many duties, that most people had no
idea of what he did. When talking with Maggie, she said
that she was surprised at some of his emails and that she
didn’t even know some of the things that he took care of.
The strangest thing was that Mark always did it with a
smile.

No matter how mundane, how reviled or how daunting
the task was, Mark would take it on with that smile. He
had a youthful exuberance that carried him through
accomplishing these tasks. On many occasions he would
come up to me with that smile and say, “This is really
great.”

His enthusiasm was infectious. He could light up a room.
He could disarm people arguing, and get them to work
harmoniously. He looked at negative things in a positive
light. Most of all, he demonstrated that good things can
be accomplished by us all. Now what would Mark say
about this article? He’d probably shoot me that smile and
say, “Gee, it’s nice and all, but you should use it to do
something good.”

There is a lot that we can learn from Mark. He worked
tirelessly to make our club a success. Our numbers are on
the rise. Attendance at meetings is up. Our dinners also
have a good following. Our latke party and Purim
carnivals are also successful. The youth lounge is up and
running. The website has been revamped and there is
much more to come. Take a lesson from Mark and make
BENT and the Men’s Club better places to be. Do, be
active, help, contribute and don’t sit idly by. Make what
you touch turn to gold. You are all part of our brighter
future.
